Our home

The Heads House has a rich tale, woven through the history of Knysna, from the early days of woodcutters, timber ships, beautiful family gatherings and parties. Walking up the well-worn stairs to the front door, makes you part of this story.

Since 1946 the story uncovers parties, wild evenings in little boats on the lagoon, trips into Knysna for supplies, happy times with extended families, student days of fishing, and getting up to mischief, you’ll feel it in the floor boards and ceiling beams!

We really hope you will have as much fun – whichever way you choose to have – as those that have gone before you!

Originally built with river stones, sea sand, cement and railway lines the house has stood proudly looking over the Eastern Head for many years and seen the tides and the times come and go!
